Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first single, Pho on October 21 2016, was released by Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her music online in 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. On July 21st, 2015. Omen included her in Elephant Eyes song Sweat It Out. Later that year her music was circulating around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some references for Rihanna. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had been contracted to Dreamville Records. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox performed on two tracks featuring EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream of the album was released on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. Then, on the 9th November she dropped two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). The 13th of November, she came out with two additional singles, One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February of 2019, a music clip was made available for the track. It already has nearly three million hits on YouTube in its initial week. In support of the track she performed together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
